Diagnostic HYBRIDS to Introduce New Products and Technology at 23rd Clinical Virology Symposium

April 27, 2007

Athens, OH – Diagnostic HYBRIDS is highlighting the developmental progress of its new automated cell interrogation technology at the 23rd Annual Clinical Virology Symposium in Clearwater Beach, Fla. The company’s workshop, titled “Emerging Viruses, Products and a Novel Cell-Based Detection Technology,” will be held on April 30th at 2pm in Salon D of the Hilton hotel. Interested CVS attendees can pre-register for the symposium at the Diagnostic HYBRIDS booth on April 29th and 30th.

David Scholl, Ph.D., president and CEO, will present initial data from pre-clinical testing of a new system under development for automated direct specimen testing for the rapid, Point-of-Care detection of respiratory viruses. The data to be presented will focus on detection of influenza viruses (Flu) and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Ultimately, Diagnostic HYBRIDS plans to offer a full virology test menu for the system.

The workshop will also feature presentations on new products for detection of human metapneumovirus (MPV) and enterovirus. The MPV presentation will focus on clinician experiences with this newly emerging virus, which has gained increased clinical importance due to its prevalence and similarity to the more common RSV. The enterovirus session will highlight data from multiple clinical evaluations of Diagnostic HYBRIDS’ new D3 IFA Enterovirus Identification Kit; the monoclonal antibody reagents from this kit combine with Super E-MixTM for the most rapid and specific enterovirus detection solution currently available for all specimen types.

Diagnostic HYBRIDS will also have over 45 scientific posters presented throughout the 4-day conference. These posters will highlight the performance characteristics of novel cell-based assays with proprietary monoclonal antibody detection, the multiple clinical laboratory benefits derived from adopting a “totally tubeless” testing strategy, newly launched collection and transport products (Flocked Swabs and Universal Transport Medium), and real-world clinical laboratory experiences by supervisors which detail the clinical and diagnostic benefits of using Diagnostic HYBRIDS’ Rapid Culture Systems to enable clinicians to meet WHO, CDC, and FDA guidelines for testing of respiratory viruses in combination with POC devices. Presenters include clinical laboratory researchers from across the United States and Canada.
